Paal 28

Tucked between two nature reserves, the Slufter and the Mandenvallei, lies the only bathing beach on the northern tip of Texel, in an area called De Krim. This is where our story once began as a small kiosk on the beach.

The year is 1959: a wooden shed was turned into a kiosk and, together with a bunker left over from the war, formed the first refreshment stand. The name "De Krim" stuck for a long time, likely because from the sea the coastline looked strikingly similar to the Russian peninsula of the same name.

A lot has changed since then. Storms, high water and plenty of renovations have shaped us into the beach pavilion in the dunes that we now are, year-round. And the name? It became what everyone was already saying: Paal 28.
